Common Questions

How does Yard Socket work?

Install Yard Socket into the ground once and leave it in place. Insert a compatible solar light, tiki torch, garden flag, sign or other yard accessory. When you want a change, simply remove the accessory and swap in another.

Can Yard Socket stay in the ground year-round?

Yes. Yard Socket is designed to remain installed, giving you a permanent anchor point you can return to whenever you want to change your yard accessories.

What accessories are compatible?

Yard Socket is designed for a variety of outdoor accessories, including solar lights, tiki torches, garden flags, signs and more. Compatibility depends on the size and shape of the accessory's stake or pole.

How deep should I install Yard Socket?

Install Yard Socket until the top sits flush with ground level. This keeps the anchor in place while maintaining a clean, low-profile appearance in your yard.

Who can benefit from Yard Socket?

Yard Socket is useful for homeowners, gardeners, landscapers, seasonal decorators, pet owners, and anyone who regularly changes outdoor accessories. It is especially helpful for people who want to avoid repeatedly driving stakes or poles for lights, flags, signs, and other accessories into the ground, disturbing their lawn, or struggling to position accessories in the same place.

INSTALLATION NOTE: A drill and auger bit are shown for demonstration purposes only. Power tools are not required. You may also prepare the hole using a shovel, spade, garden trowel, or similar hand tool. A drill simply makes installation faster, particularly in hard or compacted soil.

What is the difference between X and O?

Yard Socket X and Yard Socket O are designed for differently shaped accessory stakes. The X version accepts compatible cross-shaped or angular stakes, while the O version is intended for compatible round stakes and poles. Choose your Yard Socket based on the shape of the accessory you want to use.

How do I determine which one fits?

Look at the end of your accessory’s stake or pole. If it is round, choose Yard Socket O. If it has a cross-shaped or angular profile, choose Yard Socket X. Compatibility also depends on the stake’s size, so if you are uncertain, contact us with a photograph and measurements of your accessory before ordering.

Will it interfere with mowing?

Yard Socket is designed to sit flush with ground level. Remove the accessory before mowing and make sure the Yard Socket remains fully seated and free of debris. Always inspect the area before mowing and follow your mower manufacturer’s safety instructions.

Where is Yard Socket made?

Yard Socket is currently designed and 3D printed in Ohio. The idea has been developed, tested and refined over the past 10 years, and I am now bootstrapping this small business myself to bring Yard Socket to more yards. As the business grows, future versions may be injection molded to increase production while preserving the product’s purpose, quality and made-in-America foundation.

How is Yard Socket installed?

A drill and auger bit are shown for demonstration purposes only. Power tools are not required. You may also prepare the hole using a shovel, spade, garden trowel, or similar hand tool. A drill simply makes installation faster, particularly in hard or compacted soil.
